For a Master Class in Kinbaku
It is with the greatest regret that we report the untimely passing of Miura Takumi sensei on October 31, 2021.
Born in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan this most talented rope artist first worked in the Kinbaku/BDSM field as an editor for several SM publications in the 1980's and 90's. However, it was in 1996 that Takumi first gained public recognition when he helped establish the Bakutomo-kai organization with the great Akechi Denki sensei to promote the dissemination of sophisticated Japanese bondage techniques.
Unlike some of the younger generation of Japanese rope experts who have been traveling the world giving demonstrations, Miura sensei preferred to stay in Japan to teach and practice his Kinbaku due to his great concerns for safety and the difficulties that he felt existed in translating the subtleties of his technique into other languages.
Entitled “Bondage Skills Form Treasury” (Bakutomo-kai- 2005/2006), these beautifully made productions showcase Miura sensei’s love for classical Kinbaku in four DVD volumes of elegantly photographed rope sessions. In the first two he is joined by Akechi Denki sensei (in one of his last video appearances) and the two men give a virtual clinic on the complex beauty that is the true Art of Kinbaku. It is a fitting legacy for a bakushi of prodigious talent who left us far too young.
Fortunately, he was able to share his tremendous skills with the world through one of the finest sets of Kinbaku DVDs ever produced. These he did in collaboration with the legendary Akechi Denki Sensei in 2005-2006.
Miura Takumi sensei will be missed worldwide by all who appreciate the mesmerizing art of Japanese rope.
