For most visitors to the dojo these amenities will remain invisible. But for those rope tops and bottoms, photographers, graphic artists and observers who are over 50 or who suffer from health issues that are even more dangerous when exposed to Covid, we hope they will provide some much-needed peace of mind. For us Kinbaku is all about pleasure, beauty and safety, and we always do everything in our power to preserve these pillars of our beautiful art form.

A very pleasant thing occurred yesterday with the arrival of an invitation to the INDIEX film festival to be held this weekend at the Regal Cinemas in downtown LA.

The shoot was done in one hectic night and involved several members of the STR team who raced to do their portion of the filming in the first couple of hours of what would be an all night shoot for the rest of the cast and crew. Thankfully, with the expert help of Miss Zelement and Remy K Thane, Master “K” was able to follow the directors requirements to accomplish three distinct Kinbaku ties to be edited into the film.
The Kinbaku Art presented involves several fantasy sequences which are cleverly interposed with entertaining dialogue and pointed social observation.
It announced the premier of the short film “Together Alone” by the talented filmmaker, Jolene Kim, screening as part of Love & Other Stories, Block 2, May 11, 2024, 12:45-2:20 PM. This project was shot in 2019 just before the Covid pandemic and is only now being released and, was one which we at Spring Tiger Ryu (the arts division of masterkclasses) were honored to take part in.
Although only eleven minutes in length, the film is a poignant and very funny parable about dating in the modern world. It revolves around two people, a Korean woman and a very hip, western man, who meet in a bar for a first date and examines all of their prejudices and expectations. It’s quite a delight.
